# How do I physically receive my first payment ? Do I need a bank account first?

Upon your arrival in New Zealand, your International Scholarship Officer (ISO) at your institution will at the earliest opportunity, provide assistance with opening a bank account and ensuring your establishment allowance is deposited. They will also give you advice about your other entitlements and insurance.
