I am a PhD applicant. What are the special requirements for me?

Applying for a PhD has several additional requirements: Limited Availability: PhD scholarships are highly competitive and only a limited number are offered each year. Direct Entry: Applicants must be eligible for "direct entry" into their PhD programme, meaning they must not require any pre-sessional English language training or academic bridging. Research Proposal: The application form requires a description of the proposed research. Supervisor Requirement: An applicant does not need a confirmed supervisor at the initial application stage. However, if the applicant is selected for an interview, they must provide "evidence that they have either secured a supervisor or are in active discussions with a potential supervisor". This means PhD applicants must begin contacting and building relationships with potential supervisors at approved institutions months in advance.
